PUPILS from Hardenhuish School in Chippenham dazzled parents and staff after four sell-out performances of their annual school production this week.

Anything Goes, a classic Broadway musical set in the early 1930s, was performed by more than 50 students from the school who had been rehearsing the production since September.

The plot sees wheeler-dealer Billy Crocker, played by Tom Fletcher, steal aboard the SS American to rescue his love, Hope, played by Annabel Howe.

Gangsters, vicars, double crossing, double-entendres and mistaken identity featured throughout, with jazz dancing by Reno’s Angels in a performance that was enjoyed by more than 400 family members, friends and staff.

Duncan Ellis, who directed and produced the show alongside fellow drama teacher James Kirkman, said: “It was an absolute joy to bring this classic to the stage and we’re very proud of what our excellent cast has achieved.

“Strong arts contributions are still vital to schools, and if that is maintained with the help of comedy Russians with beards, all the better.”
