A CANNABIS dealer put on a suspended sentence in May last year was warned he faces an immediate jail term while his friend sobbed in the dock.

Harry Radford, 21, was spared jail after admitting supplying cannabis and driving while over the limit for drugs last year. But two days later he was caught in possession of the drug with intent to supply.

Now he has been told to expect jail while his wheelchair-user partner in crime Nicole Harflett has been told she won't go to prison.

Harflett, 23, broke down in tears at Swindon Crown Court before she admitted her role in supplying the drugs.

Radford, of Audley Road, Chippenham, admitted supplying cannabis in the eight months to May 21 last year and possession with intent to supply on Friday May 20.

Harflett, of Ringsbury Close, Purton, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis between Thursday, March 17, and Saturday, May 21, last year.

She denied supply and possession with intent to supply of the drugs and prosecutors said they would not seek a trial.

Mike Jeary, for Radford, said his client was put on a suspended sentence last year and asked for the case to be adjourned for a pre-sentence report.

Rob Ross, for Harflett, said that she suffered from a rare neuropathy condition and has had limited contact with the criminal justice system.

Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned the case to Friday, January 27, and released the pair on bail until then.

He said: "In your case Radford, that does not mean you will not be going in to custody. The likelihood is you will be going in to custody: do you understand Mr Radford?

"So far as you are concerned Nicole Harflett, my view is so far as sentencing is concerned that there would not be an immediate custodial sentence in your case."

A court heard last year that Radford led police on a high speed chase on country roads between Cricklade and Minety.

And while on bail he was caught in Royal Wootton Bassett more than seven times the drug driving limit for cocaine and with cannabis in his system.

Radford was also spotted behind the wheel of a BMW in Sainsbury's car park in Chippenham, where he got out of the car and tried to push past the policeman.

In the vehicle officers found a bag containing about 15 wraps of cannabis and texts on his phone indicated he was dealing.

Radford was put on a one-year suspended prison sentence after admitting possessing drugs with intent to supply, dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs.

He was also banned from the road for two years and until he passed an extended test.
