THE village of Stanton St Quintin are the latest to receive funding from The Hills Group who have now donated £1million to parishes in Wiltshire.

Working alongside Community First, The Hills Group have supported 96 villages and community halls across Wiltshire over the past 14 years, distributing grants via the Landfill Communities Fund.

The parish hall in Stanton St Quintin received a donation last month which went on refurbishing the facility as well as installing new windows.

Cara Voelcker, project leader, said: “The new windows, which Hills kindly paid for, are now installed and the rest of the work is almost complete, having been funded by our community fundraising and other organisations.

“We are delighted and had it not been for Hills and Community First’s support, the project would never have got off the ground.”

Founded in 1900, the Hills Group has a number of business activities which include recycling and waste management, employing more than 400 staff across 28 sites.

The Hills Group chief executive Mike Hill said: “Village and community halls are a valuable asset to any community as they provide facilities for social, educational and recreational activities for all ages.

“It has been wonderful to see how many communities have benefitted from this funding over the years.”
