CHIPPENHAM hairdressers Salon Secrets have been recognised with the Best Dressed Christmas Window award for their festive display.

The competition was organised by the Chippenham BID to encourage business owners in the town to find their inner Christmas spirit and decorate their shop windows with festive furnishings.

Following votes from the public Chippenham Mayor Terry Gibson picked Salon Secrets from a shortlist for their ‘Santa’s late delivery’ display, which contained a hanging bicycle and presents.

Anthony Lynch, owner of Salon Secrets on Malmesbury Road, said: “We always try to make the store front look nice at Christmas but we have only entered the competition once before.

“We decided to put in an effort this year and two of the girls, Claire Steele and Debra Goodwin, deserve the credit for putting the effort in.

“I’d like to thank all the people that voted for us and we’ll have to try and see what we can come up with next year.”

The hairdressers received the Best Dressed Christmas Window plate and £250 sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday (December 20).

Ben Gregory, chair of Chippenham BID, said: “This year’s efforts put forward by the businesses of Chippenham were fantastic and it was great to see new ideas put forward.

“With this competition, plus the success of the Christmas Light Switch-on and the town council’s Christmas lights, Chippenham feels a great deal more festive.”
