A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been left with a serious eye injury after being attacked outside a Chippenham pub.

The attack happened at 11.30pm on Friday (December 2), when the victim was assaulted outside the front of The Pheasant Inn on Bath Road.

He was left with a significant eye injury and a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Detective sergeant Anthony King, of Central CID, said: “This appears to have been an isolated and unprovoked assault which has left the victim with a significant injury to his eye.

“We have arrested one man in connection with the incident and he has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the assault, or any incidents within the pub during the evening of Friday, December 2 – please get in touch as you may have information which could help the investigation.”
