A 39-YEAR-OLD man who was caught trying to steal cash and alcohol from a pub in Chippenham has been jailed for six weeks.

Richard Lowe, of Cranmore Avenue, Swindon, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on Friday following the incident at the Rose and Crown pub in Market Place.

Lowe was spotted inside the pub last Thursday (November 17) when it was closed shortly before 4pm before he was arrested and later charged with burglary.

He was sentenced to six weeks imprisonment due to his previous record of offending.

PCSO Sarah Moth said: “Lowe is a prolific offender who has committed a number of burglaries in the past.

“On Thursday, officers received a call to the Rose and Crown reporting that a man had entered the premises and stolen alcohol and money.

“Lowe was swiftly arrested and has now been imprisoned for six weeks.

“We would encourage anyone wishing to report suspicious activity to call 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.”
