HUNDREDS of children and their parents enjoyed a day of activities at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre during a free fun day.
Held on Saturday (October 22) between 10am-4pm, the event allowed visitors to take part in a range of events from making crafts to looking at the archives in the centre.
Phil Harding from TV programme Time Team was on hand for a flint knapping workshop and there was also a visit from Barber Surgeon John Putley from Gloucester.
Peter Beaven and his Pelham puppets was another event for people to get stuck into and craftsman Hector Cole talked about ancient tools and weapons, including Sir Terry Pratchett’s sword.
“It went well, 432 people attended and the majority of those were families and young people,” said heritage services manager at the centre, Terry Bracher.
“We’re really delighted that so many young people came to engage, since we opened we always try to do something different.
“As well as the four guests we had our own activities such as looking at bugs through the microscope, an x-ray game and Victorian marbling.”
