CHIPPENHAM will be one of many towns and cities across the UK celebrating their Purple Flag status this weekend.

The annual event celebrates an areas Purple Flag status, which is awarded based on the evening and night-time economy.

Chippenham received the status at the start of this year and will be holding a range of events across the town between October 7-9.

The Bridge House Weatherspoons will be holding a night of purple celebrations on Friday, including a purple raffle, and on Saturday will have a family fun day between 12-5pm with face painting, fancy dress and cake sale in aid of charity Clic Sargent.

Partners in Chippenham’s Purple Flag scheme will be in the Market Place on Saturday from 10am to help spread the word among shoppers about the Purple Flag scheme.

Chippenham Street Pastors will be out and about on Saturday night and in addition to their stock of flip flops will be handing out purple goodies.

And on Sunday, Riverbank Studios host PURPLE! a free event for 13-18 year olds with guest DJ’s and a silent disco at the Neeld Community and Arts Centre from 7-10pm.
