A CHIPPENHAM teenager is hopeful that the release of her first album next month will kick-start a career in the music industry.

Amber Grace will release her album Legends, Myths and Lies on September 10 having spent the past eight months recording songs in Chippenham.

The 19-year-old is hoping to take inspiration from Sutton Benger’s Gabrielle Aplin, who has had success over the past few years, achieving a number one in the music charts and her debut album, English Rain, reaching number two in the UK album chart.

“I have been singing forever. I have three brothers and I’ve been annoying them since I was little,” said Miss Grace.

“It was my grandad who encouraged me to play an instrument and I can play the guitar and the piano a little.

“Gabrielle is doing really well, she’s had a couple of number ones. Before she did it I wouldn’t have thought a girl from Chippenham could do anything but she’s inspired me.

“I’ve never spoken with her but it would be amazing if she heard my album and I might try and contact her about it.”

The former Hardenhuish School pupil moved to Honeysuckle Close in Calne last month but had spent 12 years living in Chippenham with her parents, Stewart and Lynda, and three older brothers Jonathan, Ryan and Bradley. Miss Grace had previously lived in South Africa until the age of four.

The 19-year-old currently works at Wilkos in Chippenham but will study psychology at Royal Holloway University in London from September.

Taking inspiration from musicians such as Adele, The Beatles and Queen, Miss Grace studied at Access to Music in Bristol over the past year, the same company that supported Ed Sheeran.

After recording several songs in a studio, she decided to record an album at Riverbank Studios, based in the Olympiad in Chippenham, having spent £400 of her own money to create the album.

“I have been writing songs for three years and I was really happy with one of the songs that I recorded with Access to Music,” she added.

“The album wasn’t really planned, I’m really just getting more people hearing my music.

“Riverbank Studios have been really good. They focus on young people and give really affordable practice sessions. Guy Britton, co-owner of Riverbank Studios, has produced it for me.”

Legends, Myths and Lies will be available to download on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon.
