PUPILS at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham have been celebrating after the school achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in its A-level results.

Former headteacher Jan Hatherell, who recently retired after 27 years at the school, said: “The A level results of the class of 2016 are extraordinary with a 100 per cent pass rate, including 53per cent of grades A*-B, and 8 per cent of grades at A*.

“Our students have made exceptional progress and exceeded the challenging targets based on their GCSE results two years ago.

“As always Hardenhuish demonstrates that it has extraordinary students, fantastic teachers and terrific support from our parents and governors.”

Notable results included Joanna Stell who achieved two A* in maths and further maths as well as A grades in history and psychology and will now study liberal arts and science at Birmingham University.

Emily Rickett, who joined Hardenhuish sixth form from Saudi Arabia, gained three A* grades in business studies, history and government and politics, and is going on to study politics and international studies at Warwick University.

Firat Guloglu achieved three A grades in biology, chemistry and economics is going on to study medical biochemistry at Bristol University.

Isobel Dodd, 18, achieved an A* in maths, A in biology and B chemistry and was also head girl at Hardenhuish School.

“I was aiming for three As so I've averaged overall,” she said.

“I was calm inside but my hands were shaking when I collected the results.

“I'm going to UCL to study neuroscience.”
