SOME unusual guests have gone down, not to the woods, but a Chippenham funeral directors as a teddy bear’s picnic has been put on display in the shop window to raise money for Julia’s House.

E Wootten & Son in Market Place has created the display to help the charity raise £100,000, with a collection box available for people to make donations.

Julia’s House is the only hospice in Dorset to help life-limited children and their families across Dorset and Wiltshire.

Their aim is to maximise and enrich the quality of life for children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Elizabeth Saint, funeral service arranger along with Jenny Plummer at E Wootten & Son, said: “Having read about the 200 Appeal in the Gazette and Herald, my colleagues and I wanted to support Julia’s House and celebrate their 200th anniversary by raising awareness of the invaluable work that they do.

“The Devizes Friends’ Group are hosting a teddy bear’s picnic in August for the hospice so we thought this tied in well.”

E Wootten & Son Funeral Directors provides a 24-hour service and is part of Dignity, a British company that has funeral directors in towns and cities all across the UK.
