CHIPPENHAM charity Springboard Opportunity Group has received more than £9,000 in donations from local Sainsbury’s stores.

The two stores, located on Bath Road and Station Hill, chose Springboard as their local charity partner and held a number of events to raise funds throughout the past year.

This included carol singing, flower wrapping and visits by Springboards Bouncy and Ruby bears throughout the year.

A total of £9,445.60 was raised – of which £3,146 came from the sale of 5p carrier bags – and was presented to Springboard during a cheque presentation at the Bath Road store.

Store manager, Paul Gunter, said: “It’s been a fantastic year with Springboard.

“Thank you to all our customers who donated to this very worthy charity. We look forward to staying in touch with Springboard and supporting them in any way we can in the future.”

Springboard manager, Jane Boulton, said: “It’s been a team effort and we’ve been delighted to have the backing of Sainsbury’s.

“It’s just been a one off experience to work with one organisation for across the year.

“We’re delighted to raise that much money.”
