TO TOAST the Queen's 90th birthday a vintage tea party will take place in John Coles Park inviting fellow 90-year-olds from across Chippenham this Sunday (June 12).

This will be part of the royal themed family fun day which is organised by Chippenham Town Council from 12-4pm.

Town mayor Terry Gibson will host the tea party from 2-3pm for the town’s 90-year-olds and staff from the museum and heritage centre will be on hand to record their memories.

Other activities include assault courses, a display of military vehicles, inflatable football pitches, craft sessions, bouncy castles and much more.

Cllr Sylvia Gibson, chairman of the amenities, leisure and culture committee, said: “The free family fun day has proved to be very popular and we are expecting this year's to be even busier.

“It is going to be a great day, we are hoping people will come with their friends and families, maybe bring a picnic, to enjoy this lovely free event.

“We would particularly like to thank Chippenham Motor Company for supporting this year’s fun day and Matthew Boast, who runs the park kiosk, and is providing a lovely crown cake for the tea party.”

Town organisations taking part include the North Chippenham church group, Toy Library, Chippenham Rugby Club Youth, street pastors, Wiltshire Carers Support, Rise Trust, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Springboard Opportunity Group, 1st Pewsham Brownies and SSAFA.

Chippenham’s churches are joining to mark the royal birthday and are moving their Sunday morning service to the park to stage an open community act of worship at 11am.
