GIRLS at the 9th Chippenham Brownies got their thinking caps on after they were asked to come up with a name for a new guide dog.

The group was asked to come up with the name by Sainsbury’s in Chippenham, which has supported the Chippenham and Corsham branch of Guide Dogs for the past two years, and has now raised enough money to name a puppy.

Caroline Spyer, leader of 9th Chippenham Brownies, said: “After meeting George McCaffery from the local Guide Dog branch and Daisy the guide dog a few times, the Brownies were very excited when they were then asked by Sainsbury’s and the Guide Dogs to come up with a name.

“The Brownies suggested names and voted for their favourite which was Chipper, named after Chippenham." Thank you to Sainsbury’s and the Guide dogs for giving the Brownies this opportunity.”

Five years ago, Sainsbury’s Chippenham named a guide dog Terri in memory of their late colleague Terri Stokes.

Sainsbury’s Chippenham store manager Paul Gunter said: “Thank you to the 9th Chippenham Brownies for coming up with such a fitting name."

“I hope we will soon see Chipper walking around the store.”
