SCOUTS and Explorers got their political hats on after MPs Michelle Donelan and James Gray joined them for a lively debate at the 10th Chippenham Air Scouts headquarters late last month.

Following on from the Youth In Aviation event at the House of Lords, the MPs visited the site in Westmead Lane to see 30 Endeavour Explorer Scouts and members of the 10th Chippenham Air Scouts and talk about parliamentary life.

Event organiser Anne-Cécile Semichon said they discussed the expansion of Chippenham, the future of the NHS, mental health provision for youngsters, returning soldiers and how young people can get more engaged in the democratic process.

“Those of us who went to the Youth in Aviation event were treated to a behind the scenes look at the working of Parliament," said Mrs Semichon, after the talk on April 22.

"We decided there and then that we wanted our MP’s to visit to see what we do and also for our friends to learn more about the political system. It was a fantastic success, we learned a lot”.
