HARDENHUISH School in Chippenham sealed victory in the Key Stage 3 girls' badminton at the Wiltshire School Games for the third year in a row.

The team is celebrating an overwhelming victory in the Wiltshire Badminton School Games at Tidworth Leisure Centre last Tuesday.

The team of four Year 8 and 9 pupils, Jessica Burnell, Rebecca Hatherley, Nirmala George and Emily McKenzie, were unbeaten in all 20 games that they played.

Mr Tanner, sports co-ordinator at Hardenhuish, said: “I am massively proud of all the girls; even reaching this stage of the competition is a great achievement. We owe a big thank you to our badminton coach Geoff Mascall from Aero Badminton Club who has spent a lot of time training the girls.

"Both he and I are both very excited for the next round and are confident that the girls will do well.”

It is the third year in a row that the school’s KS3 girls’ team have won the competition and the girls will now travel to Plymouth on March 10 for the regional finals.

The KS4 girls’ team came third in their tournament.
