THE executive assistant to Chippenham MP Michelle Donelan is to run in next year’s Wiltshire Council elections as a Conservative candidate.
Gareth Milner, 30, has been selected as the Conservative Party candidate for the Lowden and Rowden ward of Chippenham in the May 2017 elections.
He came to Wiltshire in 2010 when serving with the British Army and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 and 2012.
After leaving the Army in 2014, Mr Milner helped Miss Donelan campaign to become Chippenham MP and is now her executive assistant based in Chippenham.
“Even if I was not with Michelle Donelan I would still be doing this,” he said.
“Because I am already working for the taxpayer I have to make sure they are getting value for money, I’ll use my spare time and work efficiently.
“I have a number of ideas that I am going to develop, little things and ideas that could make a difference.”
The current councillor for Lowden and Rowden is Liberal Democrat Linda Packard, a town councillor and Chippenham Area Board chair.
