A DEVELOPMENT of 58 assisted living apartments in Westmead Lane in Chippenham has been opened by Mayor David Powell.

The mayor joined local retirees for the opening of the show complex at the Bowles Court development last Wednesday.

Facilities at Bowles Court include a homeowners’ lounge, landscaped gardens, and a guest suite, should homeowners have friends or relatives to stay.

The development also has its own restaurant which prepares freshly cooked meals, as well as domestic assistance packages to help homeowners manage their day-to-day lives.

The development’s estates manager is also on hand to ensure the smooth running of the development, with security entrance systems and 24-hour emergency call points.

Mr Powell said: "It was a pleasure to mark the show complex opening at Bowles Court and to see so many familiar faces from the local community.

“Living independently and securely is incredibly important at any age, and I'm glad that developments like this one in Chippenham will provide retirees with a number of options in which they can make the most of their retirement years."

Bowles Court consists of one and two-bedroom assisted living apartments for the over-70s, built by McCarthy and Stone, and more than 60 per cent of apartments have already sold.

Kim Caldwell, of McCarthy and Stone Southern, said: “Our aim is to help older people stay independent for longer and make the most of their retirement and we’re delighted that Bowles Court has already proved so popular.

“The development has attracted significant interest from local purchasers looking to downsize, but also from people coming from further afield who are drawn to idyllic retirement lifestyle on offer.

“We’re very thankful to mayor David Powell for taking the time out of his busy schedule to visit our new development and are honoured that he was there to mark the opening of our show apartments.

“We’re urging anyone interested in securing one of these apartments to come along to our show complex and take a look around.”
