The Chippenham Christmas advert, which has drawn comparisons with retailer John Lewis, is set to be expanded the town's BID have revealed.

The new video will feature scenes from the Fairy Tale Christmas weekend which is due to take place on November 28 and 29.

The video has received a very positive reaction on social media and was viewed over 13,000 times in the first 24 hours of its release.

Carolyn Brownell, manager of Chippenham BID, said: “We are thrilled that the new video promoting Christmas in Chippenham has received such a positive response.

"The video will be expanded in the near future to include scenes from the Fairy Tale Christmas weekend. This will really press home that Chippenham is a town that is becoming reinvigorated as a place for all the family.

The video is currently being used to advertise the Fairy Tale Christmas event next weekend (November 28 and 29) which will include the Christmas Lights Switch On, by Warwick Davis and Andy Ford.

“The aim of the video is to show what Chippenham has to offer by highlighting just a few of the fantastic businesses that we have in the town, and to get across the message that there is a lot to do in the town, and a lot to keep you entertained over the festive period," Ms Brownell added.

“But just as important, we wanted to give a flavour of Chippenham at Christmas. It can be too easy to forget and to undervalue what a delightful town Chippenham essentially is.

"If you are looking for a traditional English market town experience, Chippenham has it all. And this experience is what will increasingly attract people to visit.

“The Fairy Tale Christmas weekend event will be bigger and better than Christmas in previous years, and we are sure the video, released just over a week in advance, will excite people and encourage them to turn out and enjoy the event.”
