POLICE are searching for a group of three men who have scammed over £1,000 from a single elderly victim in Chippenham.
The trio claimed to be from Wiltshire Council and asked the man, who is in his 70s, to pay £1,500 to remove what they described as an unsafe tree.
The victim paid the men £800.
A week later, the same group returned stating that the council needed to remove a shed requesting a further £1,500 to complete the work.
This time the victim paid the group £300 but declined to travel with the men to the bank to withdraw more.
The men are described as white with local accents, travelling in a grey lorry with a white cab.
Anyone with information that could help police with their enquiries should contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
