ANTIQUES expert Marc Allum launched his second Antiques Almanac at the Chippenham Museum and Heritage Centre on Monday (Nov 9).

Mr Allum, who lives in Chippenham and enjoys strong ties with the centre, launched Allum's Antiques Almanac 2016 at the evening, a book which encompasses news, tall tales and tasty titbits from another year in art, antiques and collectables.

The BBC Antiques Roadshow specialist, who was at Bowood House and Gardens for filming earlier this year, said: "I felt I really wanted to do something local, I am used to doing London book launches but I thought 'let's do something with friends in Chippenham'.

"Chippenham has made my family and I very welcome and we adore it, in a very short space of time we feel very welcome here."

Mr Allum also confirmed the search for Saxon Chippenham, in his back garden, would restart in 2016 after he enjoyed moderate success earlier this year.

Many of the archaeological finds from his 2015 dig are displayed in the Chippenham Museum and Heritage Centre in the Market Place.

His latest book is the second annual to be released but he has previously written The Antiques Magpie and The Collectors Cabinet, which has recently been published in Japanese.

Allum's Antiques Almanac 2016 is out now in hardback at £16.99.
