Motorists are being advised to stay clear of Rowden Hill in Chippenham this evening after an earlier accident involving three vehicles.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that part of the A4 near the Bridge Centre roundabout is still closed.
Police were called to the incident at 3pm this afternoon (August 26) to a three vehicle incident involving a Volkswagon van, a Volkswagon people carrier and a Honda car, all from the local area.
Wiltshire Fire and Rescue crews from Chippenham, Calne and Devizes attended the incident and were required to cut the roof off one of the cars to free a male driver.
Fire crews from Corsham and Pewsey were mobilised to stand by and cover stations whilst the incident was on-going.
A driver has been taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath by road ambulance with possibly back injuries.
Another person was treated by the South West Ambulance Service at the scene.
