SOUTH West and Gibraltar MEP Dr Julia Reid has been appointed UKIP’s national party spokesman on science.
Dr Reid, who is also a Calne town councillor, was a research biochemist before getting into politics and also was involved in research at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
She was appointed to the position as part of UKIP’s reshuffle announced on Friday.
Dr Reid, whose MEP office is in Chippenham, said she was delighted with her appointment.
She said: “I am honoured to have been appointed to this role and to joining the excellent team of national party spokespeople.
“I look forward to the challenges ahead and working to champion the interests of the science sector.”
