Children from St Paul’s School in Chippenham had a capital day out when head teacher Sheridan Upton took them off to London.

Over two days of the summer term, Mr Upton arranged for every child at the school to travel to London and experience the sights and sounds of the big city.

The children arrived before lunchtime in Whitehall and walked past Downing Street, Horseguards Parade, the Houses of Parliament and over Westminster Bridge.

They enjoyed a picnic lunch before setting off for the London Eye.

Mr Upton said: “We were so proud of all our children. They were so knowledgeable about the many different landmarks based on their learning from the term.”

The children completed their busy day with a relaxing river cruise before returning home tired but full of wonder at their experiences.

The trip was made possible through generous donations from the Chippenham Borough Lands charity and the Friends of St Paul’s School.
