VISITORS to Chippenham will now be greeted by three town hosts who have been employed by the Business Improvement District to ensure that tourists experience all the town has to offer.

The BID, which levies businesses on a collective investment to improve their environment, has trained the trio to ensure they are knowledgeable and passionate about Chippenham and the attractions it is home to.

Chris Williams, Matthew Corr and Kieran McLaughlin have been becoming familiar faces around the town over the last few weeks by serving as information points for visitors in the town centre area and have sporting uniforms of a navy blue BID T-shirts.

The trio – two full time and one part time – are also first aid trained and serve as a quick response unit to problems which may arise such as anti-social behaviour, cleanliness, and shoplifters, enhancing communication between the police and businesses.

The town hosts operate in the BID area Monday to Sunday between 9am-5pm and Carolyn Brownell, Chippenham BID manager, said she is delighted to have them out on the streets helping visitors and businesses in the BID area.

“We have chosen our hosts carefully and have ensured they are well trained and able to hit the ground running. We are confident that they will become a valued resource for people visiting and working in the town,” she added.

“It is important that BID levy payers understand that the hosts are not just there to help visitors to the town, but are there to support the business community as well, and we invite all businesses in the BID area to make themselves known to the hosts and to welcome our new team members.”
