Pupils at Christian Malford Schoolput their best foot forward on Friday afternoon and took part in a Race for life.

It was the first time Christian Malford has put on the event which was organised by the school council in aid of Cancer Research UK.

All of the pupils at the school took part in the race and received a medal at the end.

First to take on the challenge were the reception to year 3 classes who ran five laps of the school field.

Once the younger children had completed their running, Years 4 to 6 ran 15 laps of the field.

Chairman of the governors Claire Kennedy said: “It went really well. The children had a brilliant day and were all encouraging each other to complete the race.

"We organised the event as many of the girls take part in Race for Life, and the boys felt a bit left out, so we decided to organise a race as a school."

Mrs Kennedy said the race raised more than £600 and the school hopes to make it an annual event.
