Wiltshire residents suffering from sight loss will be able to access resources and advice through new drop-in sessions being organised by Action for Blind People.

Those who want technology training or need employment assistance will be to able to get help at the Hearing and Vision Resource Centre in Estcourt Crescent, Devizes on February 11 and March 11 from 10am to noon.

Organised by national charity Action for Blind People, the drop-in sessions are designed to support blind or partially sighted people who are looking for a job or need help using special software that allows them to use computers and mobile phones.

Yvonne Brooks, assistive technology co-ordinator from Action’s Salisbury team, said: “Finding work can be challenging for everyone, but if you’re visually impaired there are additional obstacles to overcome.

“Today’s technology and access to work support means blind and partially sighted people can cope as well as sighted counterparts in many roles.

“People are welcome to turn up to the sessions on the day, but I encourage people to phone in and let us know if there is anything in particular they need support and assistance with. This will ensure we give the most appropriate help.”

Additional drop-in days will be held at the Wessex Sight Centre in Salisbury on February 25 and March 25 from 2pm-4pm.
