AN art exhibition to raise awareness about the dangers of plastic waste to dolphins and other sea life is taking place at the Yelde Hall in Chippenham this week.

The town is home to The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society which invited 21 primary schools to decorate large 2D models of dolphins with clean litter to act as the centrepieces.

The exhibition hopes to raise awareness among children and the wider public about the issues of litter and how it affects the wildlife in our seas via the River Avon.

Litter in local schools and the town had been raised as an issue of concern by the Chippenham Children and Young Person’s Parliament.

Stephanie Davis, Chippenham Partnership of Schools manager, said: “I think they look brilliant, they’re all very individual and they have all worked so hard.

"They highlight how we are all responsible for what happens to litter so hopefully that will start changing people’s views.”

Entry is free and the exhibition runs until 3.30pm on Saturday.
