CHARGES for burials in Chippenham are to increase by almost half. But the cost of Stanley Park pitch hire is to stay the same, according to the town council’s proposed fees and charges for 2015-2016.
The proposals have been approved by the council’s strategy and resources committee.
The burial of an adult in London Road Cemetery is to increase by 49 per cent, taking the cost from £235 up to £350. For a child aged between one and 12, the charge will go up by 17 per cent from £150 to £175.
Rents for Chippenham’s allotments will also rise from £57 to £70 per year for a 253 square metre plot from September 29.
Pitch hire fees for Stanley Park will not change and users of the bowling green and tennis courts will see only modest increases of £3 or £5 respectively for an adult season ticket.
Car parking at Westmead is being kept at £45 a month and reduced from £39 to £30 for standing order payments.
The full budget will be debated by full council for approval on today.
