Serving soldiers joined Chippenham pensioners in remembering those who died in the Great War.

Ferfoot care home in Old Hardenhuish Lane had a service of remembrance with soldiers from 9 Regiment.

Their visit last Thursday gave residents an opportunity to talk first-hand with soldiers serving in the British Army. The soldiers, based at Buckley Barracks, Hullavington, were also invited to take part in armchair exercises as part of the home’s regular activities programme.

Care home manager Nicki Stone said: “We were delighted that the group of soldiers were able to spend some of their valuable time with us here at Ferfoot, particularly during Remembrance week.

“They also enjoyed lunch with the residents and kindly donated £100 to the residents’ activities fund. It was a great occasion and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the special afternoon.”

Ferfoot provides residential dementia care for up to 52 elderly people.
