A high-speed motorway chase near Chippenham led to the arrest of a suspect for an Oxfordshire burglary.

Thames Valley Police in an unmarked car chased a car at more than 100mph while the suspects threw a cash box and a disc cutter from the car.

The pursuit, in which a car mounted a verge and destroyed a no entry sign, took place at 5.30am last Wednesday, between junctions 14 and 17 of the M4.

The driver got out of the car at Leigh Delamere services and ran across the carriageway.

The passenger, a 26-year-old man from London, was arrested on suspicion of a burglary in Faringdon.

Police recovered clothing and a cash box from the road.
