A man who was involved in the supply of hard drugs has been warned he could be facing a jail term.

Colin Makepeace, 43, pleaded guilty to possessing heroin and cocaine with intent to supply when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday.

Makepeace had about an ounce of each drug in smaller deals, worth a total of about £400, when he was arrested in Chippenham on Tuesday, October 29.

Jason Taylor, defending, told the court his client had been an addict saying he was "selling to fund his own habit".

An earlier hearing was told Makepeace is now off drugs and has now moved to Salisbury where he is caring for his father who is a paraplegic.

Mr Taylor asked for the case to be adjourned so the probation service can compile a pre-sentence report on his client.

Judge Peter Blair QC agreed to the request and released Makepeace, of Barrington Road, Salisbury, on bail to Thursday, October 30.

But he said: "I am going to continue your bail as before. By giving you that bail I don't want you to be under any misconceptions.

"By giving you bail does not necessarily mean you will get a sentence that does not involve prison. For now it remains open."
