  • "Actually this year there are going to be well over 30 live acts across all musical genrés, filling three stages. Some of these great acts have singles being released and are set to potentially be the next big thing!

We have incorporated the two additional stages, including the dance tent and the Acoustic stage to accommodate different people's tastes, ages and interests, creating a really good, eclectic mix of music. There really will be something for everyone.

Each stage will have a different atmosphere and you can move about between the different zones and enjoy the experience in your own way.

It will be a fresh, new approach to events in Calne and all we need is the support of the locals to make this a really really great, credible, music festival which can grow year on year.

I really do hope you do decide to come as I guarantee you'll have a fantastic day!"

Samba to shine at Calnefest

A HOST of exciting acts have been added to the bill of this year’s Calnefest – including the local samba band.

The town’s biggest music festival returns for its second year in June, with two stages and a dance tent.

Among the acts announced this week are community samba band Calnevalistas. They held workshops with the crowds last year and will now get the chance to strut their stuff on the stage.

Talk in Code, an up-and-coming dance rock act, have been confirmed. They have already worked with the likes of top DJ Armin Van Buuren and their debut single is set for release later this month.

Wiltshire band The Ashun, folk rock group the Shapes, Calne’s Fly Like Fools, solo artist Benji Clements and acoustic rock trio Petroleum Jellyfish have been lined up.

They will join the likes of The Porn Issue and The Real Cheesemakers, both local favourites, who were announced last month.

Festival organiser Clare McCoombe said: “We have got some really exciting acts on the line-up. To have Talk in Code playing is really cool.

“And it will be great to have the samba band showing what they can do.

“This is getting close to the final line-up. There are a couple more acts to confirm over the next week or so. The festival is only two months away, so it is a pretty exciting time.”

Calnefest takes place at the recreation ground on June 9.
