Cherhill teenager threatens mum with kitchen knife

10:44am Friday 9th January 2009

A teenager girl was arrested in Cherhill for threatening her mother with a large kitchen knife during a row.

More than ten police officers spent an hour locating the girl, who had fled the scene with bare feet and wearing pyjamas.

Calne police sergeant Phil Connor said: “Our main concern was for the welfare of the girl. It was minus three degress with snow flurries and we were aware that the she was not dressed for the extreme conditions.

“When we found the alleged offender she was in a distressed and very bedraggled state. Warm clothing and first aid were provided before she was arrested for the public order offence of affray and taken to Melksham custody suite for interviews.

“This was deemed to be a domestic violence incident and we would like to state that the police take all such cases very seriously. Action will be taken in all cases.”

The 18-year-old is currently on police bail on the conditions that she is not to visit the village of Cherhill or contact her mother or sister.
