A HALLOWEEN party for the children of Calne, in memory of a much loved volunteer was a spooky success on Tuesday afternoon.
Kids put on their scariest fancy dress costumes and headed down to the Community Hub and Library for some fun Halloween activities including making face masks, paper plate pumpkins, and face painting.
Mayor of Devizes Cllr Nigel Carter also made a special appearance, having his face painted before heading to the Halloween in the Park.
The event was in memory of Hazel Haywood who sadly passed away aged just 41 on October 1, and raised £220 for her favourite charities, The Community Hub, and Calne Wildlife Rescue.
A huge pair of vintage-style glasses and bright lips in Hazel’s signature style were put onto the head statue outside the Hub in her memory.
The volunteer loved everything Halloween and fancy dress, so a Halloween party was the most fitting way to celebrate her life.
Clemency Bedford, who spent the afternoon painting children’s faces, said: “It went really well. I had a long queue as soon as the school’s kicked out! Lots of people donated cakes and the crafting went very nicely.
“When she suddenly died it seemed to be fitting to make it about her, she loved Halloween and any opportunity to dress up.”
