SOME little visitors have been hard at work this October half-term, waiting to be found hiding around Bowood Gardens.

Children and their families have put on their wellies and waterproofs to run around Bowood Gardens, following the scarecrow trail to find each individual character and spell the mystery word.

All the scarecrows are busy at work throughout the grounds, cutting the lawn, raking the leaves, and bringing in the harvest.

The adventure includes fun facts along the way, starting in Tractor Ted’s Little farm, and ending at the Admission Kiosk with a prize for completing the trail.

Bowood’s marketing and business development manager Amy Nutland said: “Over the first two days we welcomed over 1,000 visitors.

“The Capability Brown scarecrow is particularly popular – and relevant within the legendary landscape designer’s Bowood parkland.

“Halloween activities will then take shape over the weekend and run-through to next Tuesday, while Sunday is the last day to follow the scarecrow trail.

“With Bowood House and Gardens’ 2017 ending on Wednesday, November 1, I really would urge the public not to miss out on these added treats and Bowood’s autumn colours in the coming days.”

The scarecrow trail is running until Sunday, October 29, from 11am-3pm. Usual house and gardens admission applies, and tickets can be bought at www.bowood.org/product/house-gardens-day-ticket/.
