POLICE are investigasting after lead was stolen from a listed building earmarked for development in Calne.

Over the past week, residents have filed a number of reports of youths breaking into the grounds of Chilvester House and climbing onto the roof to remove metal security panels at 10pm on Tuesday (April 4).

The inside of the house has also been damaged as has the structure of the building.

PCSO Cook from the Calne Community Police Team says: “Enquiries are currently ongoing in relation to the stolen lead, and plans are being made to contact the parents of youths who have recently been located in the grounds of the property.

"I would like to remind any youths wishing to gain entry to this building that you may be committing offences in doing so, and you are almost certainly putting yourselves and others at great risk of injury due to the poor condition within building.

"For your own safety, please do not enter this property or the surrounding grounds.

Officers will be patrolling the location while David Thorne, who is looking to develop the site, works on arranging on site security.

Anyone with information should call PSCO Mark Cook on 101 quoting reference number 54170030007.
