A 31-YEAR-OLD man who possessed more than 30 indecent films of children when he lived in Calne has been ordered to register as a sex offender and handed a six-week curfew.
Timothy Peck, of Ferrybridge Cottages, Weymouth, Dorset, pleaded guilty to being in possession of 33 category B and five category A indecent photographs and films of children between August 25, 2013 and July 9, 2014.
North West Wiltshire Magistrate’s Court last Thursday heard how police raided a property in Calne where Peck was staying in 2014 and seized equipment with the images on after receiving intelligence.
Prosecuting, Michelle Hewitt said: “The total number was one image and 37 movies, some of which were around 30 minutes in length and contained images of child abuse and extreme pornography.”
Peck was given a six-week curfew requiring him to be home between 8pm to 6am and ordered to pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 in costs. He was also required to register as a sex offender.
Returning his verdict, Judge Simon Cooper said: “The numbers are not large, I dealt with a case involving 2,832 category B this week so that probably tells you where this lies in the seriousness of things.”
