A 63-year-old man from Calne has been disqualified for driving home from the pub after having a few pints.
North Wiltshire Magistrates Court heard on Thursday how Gary James Eddy of Newcroft Road was pulled over by police after he decided to drive his Land Rover home via Porte Marsh Road on November 2.
When a roadside breath test was completed, Eddy had 59 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath where the legal limit is 35 microgrammes
Defending, Ben Worthington said: "He was cooperative with police and he had been in the pub and had no more than one or two pints but on this particular day a friend came in and he bought him a drink and vice versa and by that stage he had slightly too much to drink and had made the unfortunate decision to drive home. He is deeply embarrassed and he has had to give up employment as a lorry driver."
Eddy was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £140 and ordered to pay £80 in costs and a victim surcharge of £35.
