A FAMILIAR face to the supporters of Calne Town Football Club is celebrating sixty years of being a player, supporter and volunteer at the club.

Retired lorry driver Pat Collier of Baydon Grove, who now works in the club's ticket booth, has experienced both the highs and the lows as a Calne Town Football Club supporter but looks back on his involvement with joy.

The 71-year-old said: "When I was about 12-years-old I lived in the village of Yatesbury and I used to ride my bike to Calne to play for Calne Secondary Modern School, go and have some fish and chips and then I used to go down and watch Calne Town play.

"I played for Calne and I have been a manager of a team, the groundsman for thirty years, the raffle tickets man, everything really and now I am the tickets man - I love football."

As well as working in the ticket booth, Mr Collier has also played a variety of positions for the club upfront and in defence and been a coach, a committee member, a groundsman and a volunteer.

In all that time, the 71-year has witnessed countless wins and losses but will always look back on the club's promotion from the Screwfix League in 2004/5 with delight.

"When you have been there that long you just can't change - you have to go through the good times and the bad times," he added.
