The A3102 near Calne has been reopened following by Wales and West Utilities following a gas leak.
Work will continue to repair the pipe although most of the 600 houses in the affected area have had their gas supplies turned back on.
Clive Book, Wales & West Utilities Head of Emergency Service said: “The vast majority of homes in Calne are now back on gas. A small number where the residents were out have been left cards giving information on how to contact us when they return.
“The A3102 road as now reopened under traffic light control as we continue to work in the area.
“We would like to thank people in Calne for their patience, understanding and support while we’ve resolved this issue, and are sorry for the inconvenience that it has caused.”
