The work to return the gas supply to more than 600 homes in Calne has been completed by Wales & West Utilities engineers who are tackling the leak under the A3102.

The work was completed by engineers last night (Mon) although seventeen houses will be without gas for another day while repairs are continued.

Clive Book, Wales & West Utilities Head of Emergency Service said: “We finished work to turn gas supplies to more than 600 homes in Calne back on last night. Those where the residents were out have been left cards giving information on how to contact us when they return.

“In addition, there are a small number of homes (approximately 17) that we can’t turn back on until we have permanently repaired the damage to the gas pipe on the A3102. We anticipate that this work will be finished, and the homes turned back on, later today (4 October).

“We would like to thank people in Calne for their patience, understanding and support while we’ve been resolving this issue, and are sorry for the inconvenience that it has caused.”
