THOUSANDS are expected to watch fireworks light up the sky above Calne next month as tickets for the annual bonfire night go on sale.

Advanced tickets are now available to purchase for the bonfire and fireworks display which is set to go out with a bang at Beversbrook Sports and Community Facility on Friday, November 4.

Tracy Howell of Calne Town Council and event organiser said: "We take great pride in the quality of our firework displays, and have developed a reputation for impressive shows over the years. This year is no exception, with fire jugglers warming up the crowd and getting the party started."

The event will begin with the mayor judging entries for the annual Guy Fawkes competition at 6.30pm, with the lucky winner given the honour of turning on the town's Christmas lights on Saturday, December 3 at the Christmas Festival and Light Parade.

"We always look forward to seeing the Guy Fawkes made by the community, and invite all to take part. This year’s Christmas Festival is bigger than ever, with a Guinness World Records attempt for The Most Living Figures in a Nativity Scene also taking place," she added.

Following the lighting of the bonfire at 7pm, creative performers Juggling Inferno will wow the crowds with breath-taking fiery displays from 7.15pm until the fireworks begin.

Advance tickets, which are priced at £6 for adults, £3 for children, £15 for a family (two adults and two children), are available from Calne Visitor and Community Information Centre and Beversbrook. Tickets will also be available at the gates on the night with free parking available at Deceuninck Ltd.
