YEAR 11 pupils at Springfields Academy achieved an outstanding set of grades on GCSE results day collecting 93 qualifications, including 39 GCSEs.

The pupils, which have special educational needs and significant difficulties with reading and spelling achieved grades in a variety of subjects including the five core subjects, IT, Art, Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Technology and Land Based Studies.

Head teacher Jon Hamp said: "The Academy is delighted that one pupil gained five A*-C grades including Maths and English, but is equally proud of our pupils who gained national qualifications having never previously been able to work within any school environment prior to joining Springfields.

"In a national context of decline across the board we are rightly proud of our pupils’ achievements and their attainment. It is of great importance to us and our mission that all are now able to continue their learning through college placements and apprenticeships. The Academy wishes all our Year 11 pupils the very best success and good fortune for the future."

Through perseverance and hard work, all pupils gained a qualification in English, as did those enrolled in Science and IT while 90 per cent achieved a grade in Maths.
