THERE ain’t no mountain high enough for Calne funeral director Odette Carter, who is set to climb Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro.

The intrepid 47-year-old decided to tackle the mammoth 19,000 ft mountain as a challenge to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

With only 27 per cent of those who attempt the climb succeeding Ms Carter, of Baydon Grove, understands the task before her but has already raised £2,800 of her £3,500 total.

“I thought rather than go on a holiday I would raise money for the British Heart foundation. My dad himself has heart problems so I thought I would just do it,” she said.

“I thought it would be a challenge that I could achieve. I am not a hiker at all but I do actually go the gym on a regular basis.”

Ms Carter is also holding An Auction of Promises on Saturday, July 16 at the Masonic Hall in Calne, where there will be a band, a hog roast as well as the auction.

All those who sponsor her will have their names displayed on promotional material.

“I am a little excited by it all,” she added. “I am quietly confident although my friends that know me would say that I am not quiet.”
