A 50-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in Calne on suspicion of intending to supply class A drugs.

Police stopped the man at 6.35pm on Wednesday (June 8), as he travelled on a pushbike out of Calne towards Cherhill.

He was searched and handed over a quantity of suspected class A drugs in a tobacco tin, believed to be worth approximately several hundred pounds, as well as £240 in cash.

A mobile phone was also seized.

The man, of no fixed abode, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and obstructing a police officer in their line of duty.

Sergeant Ronnie Lungu, of the Calne Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was a positive result by officers from the Dedicated Crime Team, who work hard to remove drugs from the streets of Wiltshire and bring to justice those people intent on engaging in this kind of unacceptable behaviour.

“Drugs have a negative impact on communities and is often associated with anti-social behaviour and criminal activity.

“I would therefore urge members of the public to always report any suspected drugs activity in their area – we will always investigate any information we receive. Call 101 with information.”
