A new BBC 1 series, presented by Paul Martin of Flog It, will be filmed in Calne this weekend.

The premise of the series, called Street Auction, is to bring a street and community together for a fund-raising effort.

BBC crews will be filming in Bream Close on Saturday (May 14) with several stalls of donated items including cakes, bric-a-brac, books and plants, along with other fund-raising initiatives set up along the street.

Last month neighbours in the town were asked to donate unwanted and unloved items, which will be sold-off in a pop up auction, hosted by Mr Martin, right in the heart of the town.

Paul Martin said: “We are really looking forward to it. We met some fantastic people on our rummaging day and it makes you realise how keen people are to help in a community effort.

“It also makes you realise how all of us have things we are willing to part with. We have found some great things in sheds and attics. One lady in Calne even let me take the mirror off her hall wall.

“We hope lots of people will come along on the May 14 – even better if everyone brings something to go on one of the stalls.”
