POLICE are warning dog owners in Calne to be on the lookout after two beagles were poisoned when they ate something toxic they found on the floor while out walking.
Both dogs were being walked by their owner around the Castlefields Park and The Pippin areas on Thursday last week (April 7) when they were both taken ill.
The two dogs were taken to a local vet where they received treatment and are now in a stable condition.
One of the dogs is said to have regurgitated a sausage containing a blue substance.
A police spokesperson said: “At this time we have not received any other reports and there is currently no evidence to suggest that this has been done deliberately.
“We are urging dog walkers to please be mindful at this time in regards to any discarded food items and to what your dogs may be eating while walking them.”
