A NINE-year-old girl from Calne has raised £300 by cutting-off her hair to help provide wigs for children, who have lost their own hair after cancer treatment.

Priestley Primary School pupil, Lilly-Mai Taylor had nine inches of hair cut-off to raise funds for cancer charity the Little Princes Trust.

Lilly-Mai, of Penn Hill Road, had been growing her hair for the last 18 months after her auntie Josie Jones had hers cut for the same charity.

The year five pupil said: “I loved having my hair cut off for all the poorly children and hope the money that I have donated will make someone very happy.

"I love my new hair style. It is very grown up now. I am very proud to donate the money to the poorly children and cannot wait to do it all over again next year ready for when I go to secondary school.

"It took half an hour to cut and it was my idea to do it. It was very interesting to see my hair afterwards.

“I have done the Race For Life before in school but never anything like this.

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that has sponsored me and an even bigger thank you to Heidi at Lucy's Hair Boutique in Devizes for cutting my hair.”

Her mum Nikita Taylor, 30, said: “I am really proud. She has done really well. It all started after my sister got her hair cut.

“When Lilly-Mai saw her she started growing it and I spoke to Heidi, who said she would be happy to cut it.

“It did not take too long to collect the money, just a few months, and we will be sending it off to the charity in the next couple of weeks or so.”
