ONE of the most renowned garden festivals in England will return to Bowood House in June with a line-up to excite everyone with an interest in horticulture.

Television presenter and curator of the festival Toby Buckland has based this year’s event on ‘A Celebration Of Romantic Gardening’ and will bring a host of gardening experts with him on June 4 and 5 to explore the theme.

Former Ground Force presenter Charlie Dimmock will be giving a talk on how easy it is to achieve the perfect water feature in every garden and will demonstrate how to design one.

Owner of the property Lord Lansdowne, who has shared his home and gardens with the public for the last 40 years, will be speaking about the garden’s stunning woodland area, an oasis of rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias spanning 60 acres.

Other speakers at the festival include Professor Tom Williams, a landscape historian studying all aspects of the English landscape; Roy Lancaster CBE, a plant explorer and tree expert; Jim Buttress, a respected RHS Judge and Toby Buckland himself, who will be unearthing the hidden history of the Cottage Garden and what the future holds for this popular garden style.

There will also be live music and entertainment, making it a stellar weekend in a picturesque setting for all ages.

Tickets cost £10 for adults in advance, £12.50 on the door and children under 16 go free.
